Fantastic ingredients make a world of difference!
That’s why we’ve carefully selected small, local suppliers who are equally passionate about what they do. From bakers and cake makers to coffee and cheese specialists, we’ve tasted and tested everything we sell to make sure we’re bringing you the highest quality food and drinks.
Something to crow about!
-
Coffee from Moresso
Passionate about their craft, Moresso, near Crowborough, roast their beans in small batches. By far the best coffee we have tasted, we use their signature blend, a delicious all-rounder and very popular with our customers.
They deal directly with certified growers to ensure the best beans, and just as importantly for us, to ensure that plantation workers are treated fairly.
-
The Cheese Man
Based in Shoreham, what the staff at The Cheese Man don’t know about cheese isn’t worth knowing!
With their help, we think we’ve come up with the perfect combination of cheeses for our toasties, including the Sussex Charmer for a bold flavour and a mozzarella for ooze.
-
Sweet treats from Queen Alfred Cakes
Jos and David work out of their kitchen near Wadhurst making the most delicious cakes. From coffee & walnut to lemon drizzle, there’s something to suit all tastes - perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Design by Meg & Tim Roser
Meg is the talented young artist who painted our stunning logo for The Scruffy Crow. We gave her a rather vague brief – “we just want it rural, fun and scruffy” – and she has worked wonders coming up with the quirky design which we absolutely love. We hope you do too.
Meg’s Dad, and a family friend Tim, is the design genius behind our rather smart website. Both have helped us enormously with marketing too.

Pomfrets Butchers, Horam
A traditional butchers who really care about the meat they sell and its provenance.
We buy our thick-cut bacon for our mighty bacon baps from them as well their big old sausage rolls.
-
Poppyseed Bakery
We wanted a loaf that would give a big, thick toastie and we found it at this award winning bakery, in nearby Cross in Hand. None of the additives you get in supermarket bread either. Their giant baps are what make our bacon baps so big and beautiful too!
Their croissants and pain au chocolat are also up there with the best we’ve ever tasted.
